INDOOR: Tour de Njinga 2018

The second Grand Tour of the season kicks off this July, meaning it's time to take on the Pros again with our very own Tour de Njinga.

From the 7th July until the 29th July, the Njinga Lab will be hosting a spectacular 3 week long indoor grand tour to find out who our own Njinga race winners are. There will be great prizes up for grabs, special Mystère classes and 3 jersey competitions; general classification (Yellow jersey), sprinting (Green jersey) and climbing (Polka Dot jersey) with point systems in place to give everyone a chance of winning the coveted titles.

Read on to find out what is happening in the lab over the next 3 weeks.

Throughout the 3 week tour, the general classification competitions are expected to be hotly contested, with our coveted Tour de Njinga jerseys up for grabs. But how can you win valuable points towards these jerseys?

Yellow Jersey (General Classification):

The yellow jersey is the most prestigious jersey of the Tour de Njinga 2018 and is awarded to the male and female who can accumulate the most number of Kilometres during the 3 weeks of the Grand Tour. All wattbike classes on the Njinga timetable, distances covered in every FTP Test, 12 minute TT Test and our new Max RAMP Test over the 3 weeks will count toward your total kilometres. You will also receive 10km for every Strength and Conditioning and Yoga session completed in the lab over the 3 week Grand Tour. 

At the end of the 3 weeks the female AND the male who have covered the most distance on the wattbike will win our coveted Tour de Njinga yellow jersey. Tip - To be in with a chance of winning this jersey attend as many classes as you can throughout the 3 weeks.

Green Jersey (Sprint Champion):

The Green jersey of the Tour de Njinga 2018 is for the Sprinting King OR Queen of the Njinga Lab! This jersey is for the big sprinters with huge top end power for specific challenge segments allocated across the weekly timetable.

You will win points in designated sprint classes on the schedule by achieving the highest average power in selected segments. 10 points will be awarded to the male and female with the highest average power, 7 points will be awarded to the male and female in 2nd place and 5 points for 3rd place. Everyone else will receive 1 point for attending the class.

You will also receive 10 points towards the green jersey for completing our new Sprint Finale in The Lab.

The person with the highest points total at the end of tour will earn themselves the Tour de Njinga Green jersey.

Win your Green jersey points in the following classes over the 3 weeks:

Polka Dot Jersey (King/Queen of the Mountains):

The Polka Dot jersey of the Tour de Njinga 2018 is for the King OR Queen of the Mountains! This jersey is all about the power to weight numbers in pre determined climbing classes.

You will win points in our designated climbing classes on the schedule in the final climbs of each class (Challenge segment). Your average power in the designated segments will be recorded before working out your power to weight score. 10 points will be awarded to the male and female with the highest power to weight score, 7 points will be awarded to the male and female in 2nd place and 5 points for 3rd place. Everyone else who attended the class will receive 1 point.

You will also receive 10 points towards the Polka Dot jersey for completing our new Col Climber in The Lab.

The person with the highest points tally at the end of the tour will be crowned the King/Queen of the mountains and earn themselves the coveted Tour de Njinga Polka Dot jersey.

Mystère Peloton Classes:

Join our special Mystère classes during the 3 week tour for a challenge class like no other. Expect the unexpected in these action packed peloton based classes and watch out for the multiple challenge segments where points can be won or lost in all 3 of our jersey competitions.

These Mystère classes will take place throughout the tour on Thursday 12th, 19th and 26th July at 20h00.

With double points up for grabs in both the climbing and sprinting segments towards the green and polka dot jersey these classes are not to be missed!
