HEATHROW AIRPORT’S RACE THE PLANE

We conceived, planned and managed this live seven hour indoor cycling challenge with Heathrow Airport Limited. A unique challenge that took place on location in Terminal 5 consisting of 28 teams of 13 riders from Heathrow Airport, Turner Townsend, Vandelande and many more. Tracking against the progress of a commercial airliner flying in from New York-JFK, the teams had fun as they pedalled furiously in aid of Oxfam. A success in every sense: we overcame the considerable logistical challenges of running such an event in a working international airport; the cyclists (just) beat the plane; and over £100,000 was raised for charity.

The Njinga Cycling team were fundamental to the success of the Race The Plane charity event. The team are very professional, friendly and so passionate. Togo, Leigh and Josh in particular went above and beyond to make the event a success. I’d highly recommend Njinga to anyone thinking of running a cycling event and I’m genuinely looking forward to working with them again next year.

I just wanted to say a massive thanks to you all for all the hard work that went into organising the Race The Plane event yesterday. The day was a huge success and everyone from the BEUMER team had a fantastic day. It's great to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause and we're really glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of it. Roll on next year!

Dyer and Butler were so pleased to get involved in the Race The Plane event which was for a great cause - and to achieve second place made us very proud! We felt the entire day was organised really well: from the initial idea, to the structure of the day, to the great facilities at the hotel, and of course the bike set up in T5. Plus the general enthusiasm that everyone had for the event, including organisers and riders. You have also kept us well informed leading up to and after the event which made it very smooth from our end. We are already excited about getting involved again next year!
